ProBAR Hosts Volunteer Group from Global Law Firm DLA Piper
ProBAR would like to extend its deepest gratitude to the team from global law firm DLA Piper for their recent visit to volunteer with our organization in the Rio Grande Valley. The group staffed our Access to Work clinic in Brownsville most of the week, helping nearly 180 people file applications for work authorization, free of charge, shortly after being paroled into the United States. The clinic, which ProBAR launched in January of this year, addresses an important step for people to gain economic stability in the United States while their cases are pending.
Garanique Williams, a first-year associate with DLA Piper who is spending 100% of her time this year on pro bono as a Krantz Fellow, shared about her experience providing pro bono legal services: “It was heart-warming to witness the pride and dedication the ProBar staff demonstrated towards serving the immigrant community in South Texas, and it was a privilege to join with them in this work during our week in the Rio Grande Valley.”
