  1. Reflections on a Changing Immigration Landscape: Title 42 and the “Asylum Ban”

    Title 42, and the coronavirus more generally, shaped the immigration landscape over the past several years. ProBAR staff responded proactively by shifting the scope and format of our work, services, and interactions with clients. Now, the team considers the future as a recently implemented policy is on the horizon: the Circumvention of Lawful Pathways.

  2. ProBAR is Excited to Recognize our Summer 2023 Cohort of Law Student Fellows

    This summer we have 5 additions to our team – Fatima, Geneva, Itzia, Emily, and Francisco. These five Fellows are dedicating ten weeks of their summer to immerse themselves in the field of immigration legal services at the U.S.-Mexico border.

    ProBAR is pleased to announce that we have hired Lindsay Schenk as our new Pro Bono Counsel! Lindsay joined ProBAR as a HIAS Border Fellow, and we are fortunate to have her continue to live out ProBAR’s mission with us on the border.

    Lindsay reflects on her first week in her new role during the ABA Commission on Immigration (COI) Pro Bono Week at ProBAR in her piece below. The tremendous efforts displayed by the pro bono attorneys will be impactful long after they return home.

  4. Director’s Message for Summer 2023

    This quarter’s newsletter makes me think about two ProBAR values: Resilience and Adaptability.

    Together, ProBAR finds a way forward in the face of adversity as we zealously defend the rights of our clients. Since my last message of introduction as director, I have witnessed ProBAR staff live out our values of resilience and adaptability in response to two horrific tragedies in our community and a major border policy change.
