ICH will extend services to those facing removal proceedings with no legal representation at the Harlingen Immigration Court via free information and pro se assistance—a valuable step in supporting and accompanying individuals in our community.

    ProBAR is proud to serve our RGV community and excited to announce the launch of a new Immigration Court Helpdesk to serve community members facing removal proceedings without an attorney.

  3. Channeling Advocacy, Creativity, and Compassion in Response to MPP’s Reinstatement

    In early 2022, ProBAR responded to the reinstatement of the Migrant Protection Protocols by initiating an Immigration Court Helpdesk and forming an “MPP Team” to serve asylum seekers forced to remain in Mexico under the program. This quarter’s Program Spotlight highlights the work of the MPP Team, at the Brownsville tent court and beyond, and the impact they have made for the individuals served.

    “Title 42” refers to a provision of the 1944 Public Health Services Act. It permits the government to “prohibit the introduction of persons” into the US when a communicable disease presents a danger to public health. See how this is impacting our work.

  5. ABA President Visits ProBAR

    In August, a delegation organized by the ABA Commission on Immigration, which included ABA President Deborah Enix-Ross, provided pro bono legal assistance and also visited a children’s shelter and the MPP tent court in the Rio Grande Valley.
