Thank You Summer 2024 Law Student Fellows!

ProBAR had the privilege of welcoming six Law Student Fellows to our team for summer 2024!

Having joined us in late May, these Fellows ultimately dedicated ten weeks of their summer to gaining hands-on experience with immigration legal services at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Alondra Yanez Gonzalez joins us from Puerto Rico’s Universidad de Puerto Rico, Escuela de Derecho. Alondra is the co-spokesperson for the Immigration Pro Bono Project at her university and hopes she can continue immersing herself in immigration law after law school.

Cadence Ciesielski joins our team from the University of Nevada’s William S. Boyd School of Law. Cadence has been interested in immigration law since college and spent summers working with immigration organizations, including the International Rescue Committee and the Defensoria de los Derechos Humanos del Pueblo de Oaxaca in Mexico.

Cecilia De La Garza is a Brownsville, TX, native attending St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. Growing up in border towns led to Cecilia’s interest in immigration. One of her goals is to continue working in the immigration field post-graduation.

Ilana Dutton joins our team from New York, where she is a student at Columbia University Ilana previously interned for two years in Tacoma, WA, at the Northwest Immigrants Rights Project and has always wanted to spend time working on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Kylie Mignat attends the University of Virginia School of Law. Before law school, she worked as a Senior Paralegal at Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) in New York City, where she became passionate about working with children.

Nicole Castillo Guiracocha is a student at St. John’s University School of Law in New York. She has interned at various New York City organizations advocating for immigrants’ rights and is President of her school’s Immigration Law Society.

All six Fellows are rising 3L law students who are passionate about the immigration field and were excited to be part of our work. The ProBAR team greatly appreciates their passion and commitment and has been grateful for their many contributions to our work.
